Das Ich Co-Founder Bruno Kramm Dies at 58

The darkwave and gothic music community is mourning the loss of Bruno Kramm, co-founder and longtime member of the influential German band Das Ich. Kramm died at the age of 58 following the band’s performance in Granada, Spain, on September 25, 2026.

Kramm’s longtime colleague Sven Hegewald confirmed his death, stating that Kramm suffered a medical emergency following the concert and that emergency personnel were unable to save him.

Founded in 1989, Das Ich became an important part of Germany’s dark alternative music scene and was closely associated with the development of Neue Deutsche Todeskunst. Alongside Stefan Ackermann, Kramm helped create a distinctive electronic sound that influenced generations of gothic, darkwave and industrial listeners.

Kramm was also a producer and the founder of Danse Macabre Records, extending his influence well beyond his work with Das Ich.

At this time, a specific cause of death has not been publicly confirmed. Out of respect for Kramm, his family and those close to him, we will not speculate on the circumstances.
